AFTER!!!
BEFORE

The pictures say it all. Dawn came to us in June of 2005 from Mathews County, VA; I
recieved an emergency phone call from animal control. At the time, we knew we needed the
help of a large rescue group if we were to save this girl; so we called the United States
Equine Rescue League and they stepped up to the challenge. While Dawn stayed at my
house, they fronted all the medical and feed costs. We will be forever grateful to them for all
their help with this amazing girl. They can be reached at www.USERL.org.

Dawn weighed approximately 350 lbs. at the time she was rescued. We seriously doubted if
she'd survive the 45 minute trip home, but we had to get her out of there. She not only
survived, but look at her not even a year later!! It's been a long, long journey but she is an
amazing horse, with an amazing spirit and will to survive. She weighs in today at almost 900
lbs!

We are not sure of her age, as she had worn her teeth down to nothing chewing on the
wood in the stall she'd been locked in for so long; we think she is close to 30. But she is
active, playful with the other horses, and just bursting with life. She is the epitome of what a
little hope can do.
